Welcome to Nacho Talk, and thank you for visiting. Our goal with this website is to present social and cultural commentary in an entertaining fashion. We hope you will find our submissions funny and thoughtful, as well as intriguing and stimulating. We may even shoot for educational, but no promises on that.
The Nacho Talk team is comprised of Kerim Satirli and Nate Nelson, who met in a Russian prison while Kerim was at the tail end of a cybercrimes charge and Nate was starting a 3-to-5 year stretch for misdemeanor assault. It took a couple of midnight knife-fights with makeshift blades before they grew to grudgingly respect each other, but a friendship was soon struck over a plate of shared nachos. Now released and prison hardened, they have combined forces to forge an elite team of black-ops Super-Commandos.
The blog is just a little side project for their down time between staging coups in South America or eliminating rebel leaders in Africa.
Almost none of that above paragraph is true, of course, but we think it sounds more exciting than the story of Kerim the Media Producer/Consultant and Nate the Media Contact/Project Manager. You may agree to disagree after reading it below.
Kerim currently resides in the Netherlands, although he is originally from Austria and has lived in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Italy. He is studying Communication and Multimedia Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Breda, and majors in Creative Technology. He also works as a freelance content producer and has worked on such diverse projects as mobile technology portals, viral marketing campaigns, and technical guides. He has a personal blog at kerimsatirli.com, where he writes reviews, rants, and opinions. Whatever free time he has left after all that (and Nacho Talk, of course) goes to good music, good books, and spending time with loved ones.
Nate makes his home in the United States, where he was born, raised, and lives in Utah. He moved to Sweden for two years, where he served as a missionary for his church. He studied Communications and English at Salt Lake Community College, where his major was Journalism. He works as a media contact and product development team member for ZAGG Inc. He writes a personal blog at nsnelson.wordpress.com (he wants to improve the URL), along with other blogging and podcasting projects – including Nacho Talk. He is also working on the second draft of a book, which is coming slowly but he swears he will get it done. He also loves spending time with his wife and loved ones, reading, watching movies and television, and being in the great outdoors.
So, that’s the team, and they each bring different viewpoints to Nacho Talk (“nT” is the cool insider abbreviation, by the way). Kerim has exceptional ability and understanding in the world of technology, and his well-developed inner nerd provides sharp insight and creative flair. Nate brings more of an everyman approach, and is a dedicated observer who contributes considered commentary and social criticism.
That is the essence of Nacho Talk. Kerim from The Continent and Nate from The New World writing sometimes-contrasting, sometimes-concurring opinions and frankly enjoying every minute of it.
